Academics FAQS

  1. What is meant by online learning or e-learning?
As the word eLearning suggests, the training material is designed in an electronic ('e') format. As a concept, elearning is not dependent only on the Internet or on Intranet; it can involve a greater variety of equipment, CD-ROMs and DVDs being examples of these.

For CSMER, the learning material will be provided to you online. A Learning Management System (LMS) will help you interact with your faculty, and will record your scores for the assessments. Videos and other relevant learning material will also be shared on the LMS.

  2. How is online learning better than classroom learning?
Online learning, or e-learning, as it is called, is better than a traditional classroom in the sense that it helps learners and trainers overcome time, attendance and travel-related difficulties. In other words, it is learning that is accessible 24/7. This is anywhere, anytime learning, in addition to being flexible and convenient.

  3. I have never used a computer before, so how will I be able to attend the online class?
First-time computer users can take the help of peers and colleagues to take them through the course access process, and to learn how to surf through the program. You can get comfortable in accessing the program in less than an hour. Initially, you may be a bit slow in using the program, but with time, you will get as comfortable with it as any regular user. Therefore, lack of experience with using a computer is not a limiting factor for anyone who wishes to enroll for the online program.

  4. I don't have a computer or an internet connection at home. Does that stop me from joining the program?
You can access the program from your office, if you are employed, or from your nearest cyber cafe. Internet access charges have reduced tremendously, and one can surf the internet at very nominal prices now.
    Q. Don't you think classroom teaching is more effective than e-Learning for the resolution of our queries and difficulties?
    A. It has been observed that in a classroom session, people shy away from asking questions. Repeated questions may also become difficult to handle. Also, every candidate has different ability, aptitude and grasping levels. E-Learning helps you with self-paced learning and personalised faculty support to take you through the entire course.
Feedback from our current students has made us conclude that people prefer an online medium as the preferred mode of learning.
